Some nine homes at Navosai in Narere, Nasinu, were damaged by a tornado that had formed in the area in the early hours of this morning.
Resident Sitiveni Balawakula who resides at Volavola Road said he was caught off guard with the sudden development of strong winds.
Mr Balawakula said they felt a tornado rip through his neighbours house causing roof tops to be blown away.
“We waited for day time to come before we could clear all the debris,” he said.
He said some more houses in the area were badly damaged in the process.
