All non-essential civil servants still reporting to work have been requested to stay home from tomorrow.

The Ministry of Civil Service came to the decision following latest assessments of the weather by the National Disaster Management Office (NDMO).

Severe Tropical Cyclone Harold is expected to enter Fijian waters from tonight.

“It will pass just to the south of Kadavu before moving on towards South Lau, bringing strong winds and heavy rains in the Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, Viti Levu, Kadavu, the Lomaiviti Group and the Southern Lau Group,” the Ministry stated in a statement.
