Permanent secretary for Education Ministry Anjeela Jokhan has urged students to remain focused on their studies and their goals.

She made the comments while speaking at a ceremony to mark the life of Sangam Fiji founder, Sadhu Kuppuswamy, at Penang Sangam High School in Rakiraki.

“We are a young nation with about 69 per cent of the population below the age of 40,” she said.

“What this means is that our nation will be shaped by you, the young people.

“We adults have a vision for you but our vision will only matter if you share it with us.

“To all the senior students present here today, my message to you — please stay focused in what you do.

“You will only be in school once in your life, so keep your focus and your focus should be on what you want to do and you want to do well.

“That will determine your success in your life.

“There will be obstacles as you are growing but don’t let that distract you from what you want to do.”

Students from Labasa Sangam College, Suva Sangam College, Nadi Sangam School, Ba Sangam College and Rakiraki Sangam schools took part in the two-day celebrations that commenced on Monday.
