State spends $892m – First quarter budget update

Government has spent 24 per cent of its 2021-2022 budget between August 1 and October 31 this year, states the first quarter appropriation statement that was tabled in Parliament last week.

Out of a total budget of $3.6 billion, the state had used $892 million by the end of October.

The report said $261,381,757 was utilised from the Miscellaneous Services that had a total budget of $ 713,428,619.

The Fiji Roads Authority which has a total budget of $272,357,280, had only used $37.6 million between August 1 and October 31.

The Water Authority of Fiji spent $12.8 million from its total budgeted amount of $194,922,868 in the three-month period.

The Ministry of Sugar utilised 54 per cent of its total budget after spending $39.5 million from its total $72.1 million in three months.

Out of its total budget of $ 403,305,267, the Ministry of Health and Medical Services used $104,624,256 in August and October.

The Ministry of Education had utilised $99.1 million from its total $442.8 million budget. Out of its total budget of $184.3 million, the Fiji Police Force had spent $44.6 million.
