State given seven days to file information in murder case

Listen to this article:

The State has been given a final seven days to file information in the High Court in Suva in a case involving a 34-year-old accused of murdering a man in Rotuma in December last year.

Suliana Kafoa appeared before judge Justice Daniel Goumdar today charged with one count of murder.

State lawyer Sujata Lodhia informed the court that they had the disclosures ready and were yet to file information because they were awaiting the post mortem examination report of the victim.

The defence in the matter told the court that the accused had requested a Rotuman translator during the case.

It is alleged both the accused and the victim were drinking when an argument broke between the two, which resulted in the accused allegedly assaulting the victim.

The case has been adjourned to March 2 for a plea.
