State files amended information in Kadavu murder case

The matter involving two men who allegedly murdered a Kadavu farmer on Boxing Day in 2018 was called today at the High Court in Suva.

Apisai Lomani Junior and Leone Naisake appeared before High Court judge Justice Riyaz Hamza, and are jointly charged with one count of murder.

Mr Lomani is also charged with one count of unlawful cultivation of illicit drugs, namely cannabis sativa.

It is alleged that on December 26, 2018, both men assaulted Filipe Loloma Junior that resulted in his death.

It is also alleged that Mr Lomani cultivated 23 plants of marijuana weighing 10.5kg at Wailoaloa Farm in Nakasaleka, Kadavu.

In court today, the State filed amended information containing three new charges against Mr Lomani.

Both men had their bail extended.

The matter will be called next on November 9 for plea.
