Home ground advantage helped Nadroga beat Tailevu 23-18 in a close finish in another round of the 2020 Skipper Cup competition at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka yesterday.

The win has kept Nadroga’s hopes of making the cup semi-finals at the end of the season alive.

The visitors had taken an 18-11 lead heading into the final quarter of the match when the Stallions’ experience and powerful finish saw them score two tries to see them in front at the final whistle 23-18.

It was a heart-breaking loss for the boys in green as they had worked hard to score the first two tries of the match.

Tries to Paula Nayacakalou and Timoci Vunimoko plus a penalty to Seru Vaniqi saw Tailevu in the lead at half-time 15-3.

But some hard words from the Nadroga coaching staff at the break fired up the Stallions and they slowly lifted their game and in the process increased their scores.

Tries to Peni Kadralevu and Beniamino Kalounidau ensured Nadroga retake the lead 23-18.

While Tailevu gave all their effort to retake the lead the Nadroga defence held on until the final whistle.
