THE Ministry of Education is urging its major stakeholders to get different perspectives and contribute to the education policy to help in strengthening its policies and legislation.
About 25 major stakeholders from the education sector attended the second Education Forum at the Suva Vocational School yesterday.
The forum was established to advise the minister and other education stakeholders on various policy matters brought up by the stakeholders who represented different departments and organisations.
Newly-appointed Education permanent secretary Basundra Kumar said the program helped them decide on various measures they could use to strengthen education policies.
“This is our Education Forum. It was established under the Ministry of Education and this program provides advice to the minister on education facilities, policy matters where we discuss policies that are under review and other new policies that needs to be reviewed,” Ms Kumar said.
In her address yesterday, she informed the stakeholders of their role in policy making.
She said new policies could be easily introduced if they worked together and shared ideas.
