THE stage is set for the country’s premier horseracing event – the 2019 The Fiji Times Sabeto Horse Races on Saturday.

Three years into its running, the event has also seen an increase in corporate support this year, with sponsors pledging their commitment earlier than previous years.

Event creator Kim Beddoes welcomed the response and support from the corporate community in addition to naming-rights sponsor, The Fiji Times and media sponsors Fiji Television and Communications Fiji Ltd, Hot Bread Kitchen, Merchant Finance, ASCO Motors Fiji and Mama’s Pizza.

Tourism Fiji has also come on board as race sponsors.

“Formscaff are building our media tower for the event, Encore is hooking us up with sound for the day, Premium Signcrafters providing us with street banners and the winners backdrop, Animals Fiji are providing us with three veterinarians on the day to check all the horses and Vantage Fiji are capturing the event with their photography and video services,” Beddoes said.

“Corporates have come together to support our unique community event.

“Horseracing events such as the Sabeto Races used to be held in the 1970s and 1980s here in Nadi and were a great source of fun and community pride.”

She said the Sabeto Races also hoped to achieve its goals of putting Sabeto on the global map as a place to visit and to spread the message of caring for animals.
