SRIF successfully extracts beneficial bacterium

THE Sugar Research Institute of Fiji has been able to successfully extract a bacterium that increases the capability of storing nutrients in the soil for sugar cane farms.

According to the institute, the bacterium called rhizobium bacteria was involved in the formulation of nodules thus increasing the capability of storing nutrients that green manure plants trapped from the atmosphere.

The concept of green manuring was promoted at the SRIF recent field day.
