THE Fiji Airways Fiji 7s extended squad has made camp in the Western Division to prepare for the next leg of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series.
Head coach Gareth Baber continues to work with his squad of 18 players for the final preparation phase.
“We’ll keep working on the finer points of what we need to do in these next tournaments, to climb to the top of the table,” said Baber.
The team has now set its focus towards Las Vegas, the next stop for the series.
Baber said the squad members would spend time familiarising themselves with the conditions and atmosphere they expected to encounter during the tournament.
“This week, we will be training a bit more under lights which is important because in Vegas and in Vancouver, you play into the night, so it’s important to get some familiarisation with that before we head off.
“All the players from last week will be in again this week. Some of the new players have put their hands up which is good, and it is what I want.
“I’m obviously still looking for that consistency, continuity in the squad and making sure that we’re going to be as competitive as we can.”
Fiji is placed in Pool D in the Las Vegas tournament against Australia, Wales and Scotland.
Fiji plays its first game against Scotland at 11.22pm (Fiji time) on Saturday, March 2, at the Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas.
