Sports play vital role

Display good sportsmanship throughout the tournament. This was the message from Fiji Muslim Sports Association national president Javed Ahmed during the official opening of the 2023 Digicel Tebara Halal Meats Muslim Inter District Championship (IDC) on Friday evening.
“Sports brings all races and religion together and our vision is brotherhood and to promote sports from all parts of Fiji bringing youths together,” he said.
Ahmed added that some very exciting football matches would be played over the course of three days, that would culminate today.
“It is easy to be a sportsman when you win and it is harder when you lose, so make sure despite the results, all of you must respect the officials, your opponents and organising committee.
“Once the full-time whistle blows, we must realise that we are all together in this and we must meet each other and move on from here.”
He said the idea was to bring people together as part of sports, through football.
“The players must put their best foot forward. The success of FANCA International Club Championship shows how far we have come together as an organization.”
Ahmed also acknowledged that the assistance from the stakeholders and organizing committee that has contributed to the smooth running of the competition.
