Minister for Youth and Sports Parveen Kumar has made the Government of Fiji’s position clear that only biological females will participate in the girl’s division at secondary school athletics level in the country.
Kumar made this stance clear during a meeting with the Fiji Secondary Schools Athletics Association.
“The physical differences between the two biological genders are too disparate and we need a level playing field,” Kumar said.
This was after new regulations had been announced late last year in regards to transgender athletes participation within the female classification of the International Association of Athletics Federations (now World Athletics).
Fiji Secondary Schools Athletics Association president Filimoni Vuli Waqa will inform all schools of this decision.
