THE new four lane section of the Kings Highway opened less than a month ago has quickly become a speeding hotspot for irresponsible and dangerous motorists who ignore the 50 Kph speed limit on the highway says Land Transport Authority (LTA) CEO Samuel Simpson.

The LTA commends the Fiji Police for actively monitoring driving behaviors along the section of the new Highway.

The Fiji Police force has booked 55 drivers for speeding, five for careless driving, one for using mobile phone and 14 for miscellaneous driving offence over the past week.

“We fully support this Police initiative which will be on-going and will be working together with them to call drivers who have an adverse driving record to “show case” meetings where a license can be suspended, cancelled or revoked,” Mr Simpson said.
