SPEAKER Of Parliament Dr Jiko Luveni has reminded all Government and Opposition MPs that English is the only language that should be spoken in Parliament.

Her comments came after the Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum raised a point of order to cut short SODELPA MP Inosi Kuridrani who was acknowledging his supporters from Nadroga in the iTaukei language.

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said English was the language of communication in Parliament.

SODELPA MP Mosese Bulitavu said the acknowledgement was meant to be stated in the iTaukei language.

Dr Luveni said the iTaukei language could be used if MPs are citing quotes.
