Carolin Vunisa could not be consoled when she was informed that her only son, Stanley Vunisa, 32, died after he was allegedly run over by a bus around 3am yesterday.

“Isa noqu rosi Stanley,” she wailed, the only words she could say when The Fiji Times visited her at the family house in Namuaimada Village, Rakiraki.

It was alleged that Mr Vunisa was lying by the roadside when he was run over by a bus.

His father, Timoci Vunisa said the family was in shock.

“He was in the village yesterday and was selling coconuts,” he said.

“The last we heard, he went to a settlement down the road in the evening.

“He was our only son and was a farmer and we are at a loss as to what happened.”

Police spokesman Wame Boutolu said investigations were continuing.

“The victim is alleged to have been lying on the side of the road when he was run over by a bus driven by a 45-year-old man,” he said.
