Sole set to join Lautoka

FORMER New Zealand under-16 and U20 representative, Zane Sole, is likely to make his debut for General Machinery Lautoka in the second leg of the Pillay Garments Champion vs Champion (CVC) against Labasa next week.

Sole, 25, was expected to join the Blues yesterday, but had to cancel his trip abruptly because of a death in the family.

The attacking midfielder has been eyed to boost Lautoka’s campaign in the CVC and the Oceania Champions League.

He was snapped up from the Port Melbourne Sharks (Australia) last October.

Sole previously played for Truro City FC (England), APIA Leichhardt (Australia), Hawkes Bay (New Zealand), Northcote City (Australia), Heidelberg United (Australia) and Waitakere United (New Zealand).

Lautoka Football Association president Abdul Kadar said Sole would most probably arrive in the country next week.

“We already have his International Transfer Certificate and he is registered,” Kadar said.

“The training is normal. Benjamin Totori will arrive in the country on January 13. We will register him when the next transfer window opens so he will be eligible for the Vodafone Premier League.”

The opening match of the CVC will be held at Subrail Park in Labasa this Saturday. Labasa won the inaugural CVC title in 1992 and then reclaimed it in 2007. Lautoka won it in 2010 and last year.
