The government’s tourism marketing arm, Tourism Fiji, has taken yet again a leap-of-faith initiative to enhance sustainability in the local hospitality sector by pioneering the adoption of solar energy technologies.
A memorandum of understanding was signed with Solar Hub Fiji this week to seal the deal and its work to enhance sustainable tourism through a range of initiatives.
According to Tourism Fiji, the initiatives include educational workshops and campaigns, exchange of knowledge and research on solar technology and sustainable tourism, and collaborative marketing efforts to underscore the advantages of solar adoption for sustainable tourism practices.
Tourism Fiji chief executive Brent Hill said they were thrilled to join forces with Solar Hub Fiji in pioneering this venture.
“We are delighted to promote Solar Hub’s products and services to our stakeholders, which includes tourism businesses, resorts, hotels, suppliers, and other related partners,” he said.
“By featuring case studies and success stories involving Solar Hub’s contribution to sustainable practices, Tourism Fiji aims to inspire and educate industry players about the benefits and feasibility of adopting solar energy.”
Yogesh Chand, the managing director of Solar Hub Fiji said this partnership exemplified the fusion of innovation and tradition, progress and preservation. He said as stewards of this paradise, they were committed to propel Fiji towards a brighter, eco-conscious era.
A week ago, Solar Hub Fiji sponsored the installation of state-of-the-art solar chargers at Tourism Fiji’s head office, as Tourism Fiji unveiled its inaugural fleet of electric vehicles.
