MEMBERS of the Social Democratic Liberal Party this morning walked out of Parliament after expressing concern about the legality of the appointment of the President.

Opposition leader Ro Teimumu Kepa said the party believed that the proposed appointment was illegal and may affect any major decision such as the upcoming election.

She said important issues such as this should be referred to the Supreme Court of Fiji for interpretation.

The party had also expressed concern from the outset at the manner the process was handled in that they were notified to nominate their nominee within 48 hours.

Meanwhile, President Jioji Konrote has been reappointed as the next President of the Republic of the Fiji Islands.
