A BIG effort taken by the Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) in the lead-up to the 2018 General Election has been on recapturing the votes that have been lost by the party in the past election.

This was revealed by the party’s general secretary Adi Litia Qionibaravi during the launch of the party’s manifesto at Nausori Village on Friday night. She said the focus was to bring these votes back into SODELPA.

“We must recapture those votes that used to vote for the Fijian parties that are based on similar philosophy,” Adi Litia said.

“We must try and capture those votes back into the party. We know where those votes went in 2014, we need to bring those votes back into SODELPA.” She said another focus of the party would be to recruit the new voters in the coming elections.

“We need to recruit, perhaps those who did not vote in 2014, those who are voting for the first time; we should recruit them to vote for SODELPA.”

Meanwhile, SODELPA leader Sitiveni Rabuka has pleaded with party members and supporters to rally behind the party in the upcoming election.

“We the members of SODELPA call upon you our friends and relatives, our chiefs and our peers to support the party that will continue the march of civilisation,” Mr Rabuka said.

“We will continue to develop education. We will continue to improve health care and also develop social services.”
