The Social Democratic Liberal Party (in suspension) has been suspended for 60 days with immediate effect.
Supervisor of Elections and Registrar of Political Parties, Mohammed Saneem confirmed this at a press conference this afternoon.
Mr Saneem said the suspension is due to a breach in the Political Parties Act.
He said SODELPA (in suspension) failed to conduct its management board meeting as per their constitution.
Two factions within SODELPA (in suspension) called for simultaneous board meetings in Suva last Saturday.
Mr Saneem says this is a clear breach of the Political Parties Act.
He said failure to remedy this breach would result in the deregistration of the party.
