The management board of SODELPA is meeting tomorrow to accomplish a few items on its agenda, and key of which is to fill and confirm vacancies that arose as a result of the recent High Court judgement.
SODELPA acting president Vijay Singh said the party’s working committee met yesterday and had set the agenda for the management board meeting.
The agenda for the management board meeting are:
1. To fill and confirm the casual vacancies of the Party executive, including acting president, two acting vice presidents, acting general secretary and acting treasurer as per the constitution;
2. To fill vacant positions in the various committees of the Party, including Finance and Fundraising;
3. Review of the Constitution; and
4. Implementation of the Nawari Report, a report accepted by the management board dealing with governance issues.
Mr Singh said as acting president, it was his duty to comply with the law and do everything in his power to preserve the integrity of the Party.
“The meeting of the management board is limited to members only. There will be no media or outside persons allowed,” he said in a statement issued yesterday.
“We have been issued a permit by the Fiji Police Force and will adhere to the COIVD-19 restrictions of social distancing.”
Mr Singh said the meeting venue would be confirmed today.
The High Court had ruled that the persons holding the positions of president, vice president, general secretary, and treasurer elected during the 2019 Savusavu AGM be removed.
And the Supervisor of Elections had also further stipulated that if the positions were not filled by May 27, 2020, the party would face suspension.
