SOCIAL Democratic Liberal Party leader Sitiveni Rabuka today pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC).
Mr Rabuka appeared before Suva Magistrate Joji Boseiwaqa, with charges relating to declaration of assets and liabilities – a requirement under the Political Parties Registration, Conduct, Funding and Disclosures Act.
Mr Rabuka’s lawyer Filimoni Vosarogo also told the Court that defence would challenge the caution interview of Mr Rabuka after he pleaded not guilty to the charges.
FICAC lawyer Rashmi Aslam told the court that prosecution would be solely relying on Mr Rabuka’s full admission and confession that he had signed in his caution interview on May 25 this year.
It is alleged Mr Rabuka committed the offence on December 29 last year.
The matter has been adjourned to next Friday, June 15, for mention.
