SOCIAL Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) leader and former prime minister Sitiveni Rabuka issued a statement this afternoon congratulating the Fiji Airways 7s team gladiators on their performance at the Rugby World Cup Sevens tournament in San Francisco over the weekend.

“Despite our loss in the semi-final, I commend the boys for their team effort,” Mr Rabuka said.

“To their families and the supporters, thank you for your support and faith in the boys.

“The nation can do no less than to commend you for your valiant effort and thank you for being wonderful ambassadors for Fiji on the world stage.

“I also recognise and pay tribute to the coaching and managerial team, to coach Gareth Baber and the manager, physio and support staff, a big vinaka vakalevu.

“In rugby, as in all sports, we do our best and skill and luck decide the outcome.

“To celebrate the wins, we must have losses and this tournament is another chance to regroup and come back better in the continuing world series.

“I thank the team for continuing to bring pride and joy to our nation, we will always support and thank you.”
