Soccer rep stars in Ba River Bluez win

GREAT Pacific Hotel Ba River Bluez defeated Nailaga 6-0 to become the new winners of the Ba rugby union club competition.
Former Ba soccer player Josevata Naibuli was the hero for the Votua-based team scoring all the points from his boot and avenged his team’s earlier loss in the first round final.
Naibuli played an outstanding game at fullback and his long range kicks was a thorn to the oppositions.
He was rock solid in defence and combined well with his teammates to deny the opposition from scoring any points.
Nailaga speedster Waisake Raselala was heavily marked by his opposition and failed to showcase his speed during the 80-minute encounter.
Team coach Salestino Gukirewa said Naibuli’s tactical kicking also saved his team from the jaws of defeat.
“Jo played well at fullback and was our star player for today,” he said.
“The boys are happy to end their 2014 season on a high note and I thank the players for their effort.
“Nailaga defeated us early this season but we regrouped and finish the game on a high note.”
Gukirewa also dedicated the win to their supporters and their sponsor.
Gracious in defeat Nailaga mentor Jerry Tuwai said his team lost to a better side.
“We accepted the loss and we congratulate Votua for the win,” he said.
“It was anybody’s game but luck was not on our side and hopefully we will return a better team next year,” he added.
