THE Phil’s Autoport-sponsored North West Billiards and Snooker Association (NWBSA) league competition will serve as the selection platform for the West team in its annual clash against South later in the year.
The NWBSA league competition will start on Saturday with opening rounds of matches to be played at the Lautoka Club.
NWBSA president Suresh Chauhan said there would be bigger and better prizes for the teams this year.
Chauhan said the matches would be played on alternate Saturdays.
“The opening round will be played at one venue and the draws will be done on the same day,” he said.
“Thereafter it will be home and away games. There will be three singles snooker matches, two doubles snooker matches, one six reds snooker and one billiards match. Two aggregate frames will be played in snooker.
“In the league we will be encouraging break building. There are many new players who will be making their debut. To date more than 90 players have registered.
“Also players who participate in the league will be eligible for a spot in the West team to play against South.”
The Simla Dragons won the event last year while Ba Central Club was the runner-up.
