Smith: An opportunity to shine
6 July, 2022, 12:49 pm
Westpac Banking Corporation CEO Shane Smith says part of their commitment to help Fijians get back on their feet is sponsoring the $3000 People’s Choice award for the Domo Vou Talei song contest.
“We’re strong supporters of education and of professional development — and we believe Fiji has immense talent and a vibrant arts community.
“Avenues like these give people an opportunity to showcase their work — and take an important step towards making an income out of a career in the arts.”
Mr Smith said the bank was committed to seeing the Domo Vou Talei competition grow in Fiji.
“As an Australian bank, we’re proud to have had the opportunity to work with the Australian High Commission on Domo Vou Talei — and we’re committed to seeing this grow and helping more Fijians succeed professionally, including as professional musicians and artists.
“For me, it’s about showcasing the immense untapped talent that we have in Fiji and giving people the opportunity to shine.”
Mr Smith thanked the judges of the Domo Vou Talei in picking the ten finalists. “It hasn’t been an easy task as there were so many great submissions. ”
We’d like to thank the judges who have done a fantastic job with selecting the finalists who are all outstanding.
“We’ve got a great diverse mix of people and music — they’re going to be a great addition to the performances at the festival.”
