Slow start in Pacific Cup

THE four Fijian teams playing at the Pacific Cup failed to find their rhythm in the opening round of the pool games held at Auckland on Wednesday night.
Labasa and Rewa have lost their opening games and would need to minimise their mistakes to get back on track.
The Delta Tigers lost to USA All Stars 2-1 while the Babasiga Lions was also beaten 1-0 by NZFFI Northshore All Stars.
Defending champions Nadi drew 1-all against the star-studded Lautoka Blues in their opening pool game.
The four Fijian teams are likely to bounce back strongly in their second round of pool games that was played last night.
Lautoka soccer coach Kamal Swamy who coached Nadi to two Pacific Cup titles is expected to unleash a few tricks under his sleeves to help Lautoka secure its first Pacific Cup title.
The master tactician who guided Lautoka to win the Vodafone National League and the Courts Inter District Championship will be banking on his troops to produce the goods for the team.
Lautoka Football Association president Abdul Kadar said the tournament in New Zealand would be a perfect buildup to the 2018 O’League championship.
