Skipper Cup: Tailevu crowned champions after thrashing Nadroga in women’s final

THE Tailevu women’s rugby team successfully secured the women’s 2019 Skipper Cup Title after thrashing Nadroga 43-10.

The Tailevu brigade were the favourites after leading 24-5 at halftime.

Fly-half Kasanita Tuvou, Susana Railumu, Setaita Railumu and Alowesi Nakoci scored tries for Tailevu in the first spell.

Tailevu got stronger in the second spell running in three more tries through Tokasa Naleca, Vueti Ruci and replacement Sonia Tiritabua.

The Stallions on the other hand only managed to cross the line twice, tries from Wainikiti Gonevulavula and Ivamere Nabura.

Tailevu walked away with a trophy and $5,000 while runners up Nadroga received $2,000.

Meanwhile defending champs in the men’s Division, QaQa Suva will face the might of the Stallions in the main game this afternoon.
