THE 2019 Vodafone Millennium Sinu Carnival will focus on the theme ‘Fighting NCDs Through Healthy Living’.

This was revealed by Vodafone head of recharge and distribution Nilesh Singh while launching the festival at the Valelevu ground in Nasinu last night.

He said he was honoured to officiate the launch of the nine days of fiesta, food, and fun.

Mr Singh also acknowledged the effort by the Nasinu Town Council to host the event despite the challenges.

“You have, and continue to perform with excellence, and much of our achievements over the past years are definitely attributable to you,” he said.

“This year, the festival will share a strong theme of ‘Fighting NCDs Through Healthy Living’. It is important for all of us to work together to overcome these killer diseases.

“NCDs have become the biggest killer in Fiji, causing thousands of deaths every year – many of those deaths premature – and affecting the lives of many more.

“We have to educate and change our lifestyle to healthy living to add life to our years. I am sure that the six contestants will utilise the theme in promoting the importance of healthy living.”

The six young women vying for the title of 2019 Vodafone Millennium Sinu Carnival are:

Miss Alvin Electrical Services – Rigieta Naisake, 19

Miss Nasinu Town Council – Mere Wainiqolo, 19

Miss Lei Entertainers – Irinieta John Mackinlay, 21
