SUVA rep Ravinesh Karan Singh helped Tavua to a 2-0 win against Nasinu in the opening match of the Vodafone Sikh Inter District Championship in Korovuto, Nadi yesterday.
The Sikh IDC has been revived after a lapse of three years.
Vodafone head of recharge distribution Nilesh Singh said the sponsorship of the annual event was a way for the company to contribute towards the wholesome development of Fiji into a spiritual, peaceful and tolerant society.
“We strongly believe that events such as the Sikh IDC are important forums to deliberate on issues of importance affecting its followers and peaceful co-existence in a multiracial Fiji,” Singh said.
“As a business operating in Fiji for over 23 years, we have always endured to fulfill our community and civic responsibilities by giving back to the community.
“We try our best to meet as many sponsorship requests across a range of demands from the community to ensure uniformity and maximum benefit to as many people of Fiji.”
In other results, Ba and Rewa played to a 1-all draw and Nasinu defeated Nadi 1-0.
The semi-finals and final will be played today.
