FIJI lost 19-20 to South Africa in a game that should have been theirs at the Singapore 7s.
South Africa bounced back into the game after trailing Fiji 0-19 at half time
The Blitzboks bounced back drawing first blood in the second half.
They took advantage of Fiji being a man down with a yellow card to Aminiasi Tuimaba
They scored two more tries and a penalty goal to take their points to 20
Fiji is still in second position with 144 points, a point behind USA who maintains the leader position with 145 points.
The Paula Dranisikula side improved from its dismal performance on day one with two losses in pool play to Scotland and South Africa
In the second day competition, Fiji bundled out New Zealand in the quarters and then England in the semis before losing again to South Africa in the final.
In the first half of the final Fiji’s tries came from Aminiasi Tuimaba, Vilimoni Botitu and Napolioni Bolaca.
