Fiji has welcomed 377,503 tourists since borders reopened in December last year.

Tourism Fiji shared these exciting figures as local tourism stakeholders reflected on their journey so far in yesterday’s celebration of the World Tourism Day.

“That’s really significant for Fiji and we’re now seeing some exciting growth in what’s being offered by our tourism operators, and new projects being developed,” an executive at the Tourism Fiji noted.

“That’s exciting for Fiji. “It’s also a great time to just reflect and be thankful – there were so many who contributed to help re-open the borders, and it’s wonderful that we are now emerging from COVID’s long shadow and can be optimistic about the future for tourism.”

Tourism Fiji stated it was great to see the local sector up and running and doing well considering its significance to the local economy.

Meanwhile, 70,110 tourists arrived into Fiji in August alone and this arrival figure was 79 per cent of pre-COVID levels.

In August, 32,283 tourists came from Australia, 21,457 from New Zealand, 7471 from New Zealand and 1528 from Canada.
