On Monday siblings Anwesha and Ankrit Lal were on top of the world and happy to start another year of school.
Losing their dad last year has instilled in Year 8 student of Rishikul Primary School, Anwesha Lal, the desire to work hard this year to achieve her goal.
“I want to work hard this year, pass my external exam and become the school dux. And I want to make my late dad proud by passing with flying colours and becoming the school dux,” said Anwesha.
Anwesha’s younger brother Ankrit said he was happy to meet new friends.
“I am very excited to make new friends and start primary school on Monday,” he said.
The Year 1 student of Rishikul Primary School said he looked forward to a new school year and would study hard.
Another student of Rishikul Primary School Gaurav Maharaj said it felt good to be back in school.
“I was happy and excited to be back and meet my friends again. It was fun and I look forward to another academic school year, said Gaurav.
Gaurav thanked his parents too for their continuous support throughout the years.
Gaurav’s dad Vishal Maharaj was at school to pick up his son and said he wanted to make sure he reached home safely.
“I wanted to check on my son and hoped he was happy and safe after his first day back in school,” said Mr Maharaj.
“I want to thank the Government for the $200 assistance and three school terms which has been implemented this year. I’m sure every parent is really happy with the all the support given by the Government during these hard times.
“I wish teachers and every student the very best and hope that parents will work together with teachers for the betterment of our children.”
Most students around the country started school on Monday.
