Shooting team hopes for best finish at Gold Coast games

THE Fiji Shooting Association (FSA) is hoping for a positive outcome at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia next month.

A four-member team made up of experienced Glenn Kable (men’s trap), Christian Stephen (men’s trap), Phua Swee Seng (double trap) and Quintyn Stephen (double trap) will represent shooting at the games.

FSA president Jitendra Mohan said their athletes would participate in a few competitions in Australia before heading for the games.

“It has been continuous training since the Oceania Shooting Federation championship at the Belmont Shooting Complex, the home of the CWG 2018, Fiji used this championship for selection of the team,” he said.

“Since then we have been training at the RFMF shooting range in Vatuwaqa and Cecil Park shooting centre in Sydney.

“The final championships we are attending in preparation are the National Championship from March 17-24 in Australia and the March 24-27 World Championship.

“Thereafter we will concentrate on mental preparedness. As an organisation and also individually a lot has been invested and we aiming for the best outcome,” Mohan said.

Meanwhile Team Fiji to the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia will be presenting their itatau to the President of Fiji Jioji Konrote at 12 midday at Borron House in Suva.
