Shipping company claims for loss

GOUNDAR Shipping says it has commenced legal action against Patterson Shipping for loss of earnings over the four days it could not operate out of the Ellington Wharf in Rakiraki.

The company began its Ellington-Nabouwalu service after the Fiji Roads Authority ordered Patterson Shipping to remove a ship that was ‘obstructing’ other vessels from using the wharf.

“We were not able to berth and we suffered losses for four days and our lawyers have filed papers to claim against the company that caused the loss,” said George Goundar.

“I am happy authorities have finally managed to solve the issue and I hope there won’t be a repeat of this.”
