SERVICE to mankind is service to God.
These were the words of the assistant Minister for Health Veena Bhatnagar to the members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints while visiting their service centre in Suva yesterday.
Ms Bhatnagar said the church had extended its helping hand a lot in terms of humanitarian assistance, not only for the people of Fiji but globally as well.
“The church has been helping the less fortunate ones in society for quite a number of years now. This is a true testament of the saying ‘Service to mankind is service to God’,” she said.
“The church has been helping in areas of health, natural disasters and disability to name a few. We are greatly indebted to the members for their kind and tireless contributions.
“The LDS church is the kind of organisation that assist us in helping the needy in our beloved Fiji.”
Ms Bhatnagar said they would work closely with the church for the purpose of helping people in need.
LDS church service centre manager Adolf Johansson said it was part of their worship to help people.
He said they would work with the ministry to improve health service delivery in the country.
Ms Bhatnagar and her entourage also toured the LDS College to see the projects undertaken by the students.
