Vodafone Fiji is maintaining its position on issues faced by M-PAiSA users and has asked the public to bear with them.

“As I said before, these are not normal times,” Vodafone Fiji head of e-commerce and corporate affairs Shailendra Prasad said.

“Vodafone is doing its best with all the lockdowns and restrictions to continue to provide the service in a very difficult operating environment.”

He said because the service required staff members to physically take cash out to agents, this put them in a difficult position.

“We risk the lives and health of our staff because someone actually has to take cash out there to the agents.”

He said there were cashless payment options available and encouraged people to use them. Last week, residents in Lami complained they were unable to access funds in their M-PAiSA accounts.

They said they were told by staff members at an M-PAiSA agency that no withdrawals would be paid out but deposits and cashless QR transactions could be made for the purchase of goods.
