FORMER Kavanagasau College student Avenai Serutabua who is originally from the highlands of Nadroga/Navosa has been working tirelessly to fundraise for his trip to the Asia Youth International Model United Nations in Malaysia.

The 21-year-old is pursuing a law degree at the University of the South Pacific and is the founder of Unity Nabukelevu Youth Club.

So far he has managed to raise more than $1000 to cater for his admission fee that will cover his accommodation and expenses in Malaysia.

However, he is yet to raise an additional $3000 for his airfare.

“I come from a farming background and ever since the announcement was made that I will be representing Fiji to the international conference, my parents have been selling food parcels to help fund my trip,” Mr Serutabua said.

“This will be my first trip overseas right from the highlands of Nadroga/Navosa where I was brought up in Nadrala Village and I am looking forward to represent our nation.”

The conference will be held at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre in Malaysia from August 25-28 where more than 2000 youths from across the world are expected to meet.
