A number of players will be vying for the 24th spot in the Digicel national football team during the second round of the Digicel Premier League this weekend.

National coach Serritslev has made it clear that the 24th player will either be a midfielder or an attacker.

“The last player will be selected after the next round of the Digicel Premier League. It will either be an attacker of a midfielder,” Serritslev said while naming the 23-members of the squad earlier this week.

“We have a lot of options with players in our midfield, so players like Anish Khem and Setareki Hughes can easily go up forward and play as a strike.”

He added there are three to four players who will be monitored this weekend before the 24th player is named.

The national team goes back into camp next week from where they will head to Qatar via Sydney on March 5.

Fiji plays Vanuatu on March 10 in a friendly match in Qatar.

Serristlev added the side is likely to play another game before the qualifiers begin.

The national side faces New Caledonia in the opening match of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier on March 19.
