The King of 7s Waisale Serevi was honoured over the weekend receiving the 50th anniversary medal in recognition of his many achievements for the nation in rugby to celebrate Fiji Day at the Fiji Mission in New York.

“It is an honour and privilege to be remembered for all I’ve done for my Fiji,” Serevi said.

“Grateful and thanking God, and to the Fiji Government for the 50th Anniversary Medals that were given today at the Fijian Mission in New York, and I am receiving this on behalf of all players and coaches that we played with.”

With wife Karalaini Nakei by his side, Serevi said the moment was extra special for him.

“It was more special because my forever supporting wife Kara was here too, and made it a memorable occasion. Karalaini, thank you so much for the support for the last 27 years and I really appreciate you.”

The medal was presented by Fiji’s permanent representative to the United Nations and the United States Satyendra Prasad.
