A 5.3 magnitude earthquake occurred yesterday afternoon in the western region.
The Seismology Unit of the Mineral Resources department recorded this seismic activity at 5.53pm.
It was located 245km West from Lautoka, 292km Southwest from Tagaqe in Nadroga, and 365km West from Suva.
The moderate earthquake occurred at a shallow depth of 10km, and the unit stated this activity did not pose any tsunami threat to the region.
