Seismic activity: 5.2 magnitude earthquake recorded in Ono-i-Lau

A 5.2 magnitude earthquake was recorded in the Ono-i-Lau region this afternoon.

The seismic activity was recorded at 2.14pm.

It was recorded 306km South-southwest from Matokana Village in Ono-i-Lau, 527km Southeast from Vunisea in Kadavu, and 609km Southeast from Suva.

The Seismology Unit of the Mineral Resources department stated that the moderate earthquake with a deep depth source location of 623km occurred 306km South-southwest from Matokana Village.

However, it stated that the earthquake did not pose any immediate tsunami threat to the region.
