MICRO, small and medium enterprises in Fiji need to understand how to improve their presence online via various social media platforms.

This was made known to 20 registered small micro and small business owners in an e-commerce training organised by Business Assistance Fiji general manager Ramesh Chand in Nadi yesterday.

Mr Chand said social media marketing was the most common marketing podium for small trades these days and as small businesses, hence, the need for them to step in and conduct trainings that would enhance their knowledge of social media usage.

“You see the number of advertisements or people promoting their products online are big and the numbers mostly rose during the pandemic,” he said.

“I think that it is very, very important that they not only promote but they need to need to understand how to improve their presence on the social media platform.

“And they also need to know the use of various techniques of social media like taking pictures of their products, harnessing them and then putting it on the on the online platform.”

Mr Chand said the training covered vital areas such as using infographic, canva and free design tools to not only promote but boost their products online.

He indicated that while e-commerce was quite a broad topic, they decided to touch on social media advertising first to assist traders marketing knowledge and help push their trade online.

Mr Chand said this was the second of the many trainings they hoped to provide to small business entrepreneurs across the country.
