Search and rescue training conducted for agencies

ABOUT 24 representatives from the Fiji Navy, Fiji Police Force, Fiji Airports, Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji (CAAF) are in Nadi this week for a three-day training course on Search and Rescue (SAR) Observer Training.

The training is being conducted by members of the Rescue Coordination Centre from Maritime New Zealand.

According to the Ministry of Defence permanent secretary Osea Cawaru, the specialised training would allow agencies to lay a platform for sharing knowledge, skills and experiences.

He said knowledge acquired from the training would allow them to collectively review and enhance ways of meeting challenges.
