HOT Glass Fiji director and glass blower Alice Hill says the art exhibition at Grand Pacific Hotel (GPH) is all about collaboration with three dimensional artists.

Ms Hill said the exhibition would include a number of creative three dimensional pieces which had all been inspired by Fiji.

“We have a number of different pieces. So glass blowing is a very quick process but it takes a very long time to learn how to do it.

“With the copper sculpture, it takes a lot of time depending on the size and the balabala carvings also take a lot of time and detail. All of the carvings are done with hand tools.”

She said the art pieces would be on sale during the exhibition with prices ranging from $200 to $8000. She said this was the second time the exhibition was being held. “Last year, we managed to sell about 80 per cent of the work.

“Holding an exhibition like this is important for artists and it is quite difficult for us to have a platform to show our work and this gives an excellent opportunity for guests to come and have a look and purchase pieces for their work, homes and offices,” she said.

The public exhibition began yesterday at the GPH in Suva.
