“ One of the best things about being a Scout is it teaches you about discipline.”

These were the words of Vatukoula Convent School teacher Vinesh Sharma while being interviewed by Kaila! at the Davota Sanatan Primary School on Friday, June 13.

‘Scout teaches about discipline and also about team bonding,’ said Mr Sharma.

‘It teaches the boys new skills and gives them the opportunity to learn new things in a new environment,’ he said.

More than 300 young boys from 15 schools in the Tavua/Vatukoula education district were part of the Scouts camp earlier this month.

With technology is taking over our way of life, the Scout camp was also one way to teach the students that they can still enjoy themselves outdoors and not just by sitting playing video games or fidgeting with their smart phones.

‘This is the first time in 20 years for us to host the Scout camp again. This is a way of teaching the students how to socialise and bond with each other rather than just playing with their phones,” said Davota Sanatan Primary School headteacher Rakesh Chand.
