All schools will be closed until clearance is given from the relevant ministry.

The Ministry of Education says it will wait for the Ministry of Health’s reassessment and clearance once it is safe to reopen schools.

The ministry stated that since many schools were being used as evacuation centres, those schools would be decontaminated before reopening.

As of yesterday morning, 37 schools in the Western Division were open for evacuation centres, eight in the Northern Division, 8 central schools and five eastern schools.

The ministry stated that heads of schools were assisting in ensuring that COVID-safety protocols were in place in the evacuation centres.

Teachers are also reporting to schools so that they can be involved in the re-setting, cleaning up, and preparation of schools for reopening, it added.
