SCHOOL heads have been urged to inform the Ministry of Education if they need more teachers.
“We’ve asked the schools, we’ve asked the headteachers and principals, forms have already been sent out to them, and they need to tell us if there are shortages and if there are, then we’ll be able to address that,” Attorney-General and Education Minister, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said.
“We need to ensure that there are enough teachers so our students actually get taught properly and there is less pressure on those who are already teaching.” He said during the reconstruction phase of schools, they would also rebuild and renovate some of the teachers’ quarters.
“I would like to reiterate the comments I’ve been making for the past few days and that is in respect of how the various teachers contribute to the education system in Fiji.
“We as a community and as a nation need to acknowledge the hard work of teachers and ensure we give them proper conditions.”
