Parliament of Fiji has congratulated the Fijiana Drua for its great performance.

Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum while moving a motion for debate yesterday on Customs Tariff Amendment No.2 Bill 24, said the Fijiana Drua women were doing fantastically well on the field.

In fact they are obliterating all oppositions and I think we should all be proud of them,” he said.

“We, of course, expect the men to improve in time to come.”

Sayed-Khaiyum reiterated that as announced in the revised budget, the Government would acquire 51 per cent of shares in Drua franchise to assist them.

“We believe the franchise was actually a worthwhile investment for us,” he said.

“In time to come, obviously the Fijian Government can sell off its shares.

“The Drua franchise required at least $6 million from the Fijian Government.

“Drua is a private company, the Government of course could not give it a grant because taxpayers’ funds by law cannot be used by private companies.

“So, we have this in order to help Drua.”
